Ted Ligety was kind enough to send us out some Shred Optics ski goggles with their Contrast Boosting Lens (CBL) 2.0 technology for review. We spent the past week ripping around with them, and here are our thoughts.
The first thing you will notice about the SIMPLIFY+ from Shred Optics is that it has a sleek and stylish design that’s sure to catch some attention on the mountain. The frameless design gives you an unobstructed field of vision, which is crucial when you’re navigating tight trees or steep terrain. Plus, the minimalist design means less weight on your face so that you can focus on your turns and not your gear.
But let’s get to the real meat and potatoes of these goggles: the lenses. We’re talking about Contrast Boosting Lens (CBL) 2.0 technology – the secret sauce that makes these goggles stand out from the crowd.
Here’s the deal: CBL technology is all about enhancing contrast and definition in low-light conditions. You know those overcast or flat light days when everything looks the same, and you can’t see a damn thing? That’s where CBL comes in.
CBL lenses work by filtering out certain wavelengths of light that can create visual “noise” and blur in low-light environments while allowing other wavelengths of light to pass through the lens and enhance contrast and definition. In other words, they cut through the crap and give you a clear, crisp view of the snow and terrain.
Now, you might be thinking, “But why does this matter? I can still ski without fancy lenses!” And sure, you can. But if you’re serious about your shred game, you know that being able to see subtle variations in the snow or terrain can make all the difference in terms of safety and performance. And that’s where CBL lenses really shine.
And if you’re worried about fogging, don’t be. The SIMPLIFY+ has an anti-fog coating and strategic venting to keep your vision crystal clear. I’ve worn these goggles on some seriously steamy days last week and haven’t had any issues with fogging.
All in all, the Shred Optics SIMPLIFY+ ski goggle with Contrast Boosting Lens (CBL) 2.0 technology is a fantastic choice for anyone who wants top-of-the-line optics and a sleek, minimalist design. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but in my opinion, it’s worth the investment. So if you’re in the market for a new goggles, give the SIMPLIFY+ a serious look. You won’t be disappointed.
