If you’re looking for a West Coast bowl skiing experience in the Northeast, one of the most striking examples is The Slides at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York.
Accessed by hiking from the top of the Summit Quad, this double-black diamond terrain is not for the faint of heart. The Slides are 35 acres of narrow chutes, and one area even features a waterfall hidden underneath the snow. If you go, you should shred with a buddy and avalanche gear is usually required.
