One of the perks of being a ski blogger is all the gear that is sent to you for testing and review. This week we will highlight some of the items we have recently received that we feel are standouts for skiers and snowboarders that would make great gifts.

The Arcteryx’s Alpha Lightweight Parka is a jacket we are quickly becoming very fond of. Technically the Alpha is a belay parka, but the beauty of the jacket is that it is super warm yet does not make you look and feel like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

The jacket is constructed with ultra-durable GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ making it windproof, weather-resistant, and highly breathable. Additionally, Arcteryx’s proprietary Hadron™ face also gives the jacket outstanding abrasion resistance, meaning it won’t be covered in strips of duct tape after the first season of use.

This is a great jacket whose use extends past a belay parka. Get one in your closet and reach for it on cold nights walking the dog or crisp, clear days on the hill.

If you jump over to Arcteryx’s you might also want to check out the Arcyda Toque. It’s a warm and comfortable toque that won’t make your head itch.
