The Helly Hansen Kids’ Vertical Insulated Bib Pants and Kids’ Legend 2.0 Insulated Jacket are winter essentials for active youngsters braving the elements. Designed with both comfort and functionality in mind, this bib pants and jacket combo are engineered to keep kids warm, dry, and protected during cold weather adventures.

Still going strong in the Kids’ Vertical Insulated Bib Pants and Legend 2.0 Insulated Jacket at the end of a big day on the hill when others are falling flat.

Constructed with HELLY TECH® Performance fabric system, these bib pants offer excellent waterproof and breathable qualities, ensuring that children stay comfortably dry, whether they’re hitting the slopes, building snow forts, or simply enjoying a day out in the snow.

One standout feature of these bib pants is the ideal combination of a soft Polartec® fleece upper with waterproof, windproof, and PrimaLoft® insulated legs, which provides superior warmth without adding bulk. This ensures that kids can stay cozy without feeling weighed down, allowing for greater freedom of movement. The adjustable shoulder straps ensure a customizable fit as children grow, making these pants a durable investment that can last multiple seasons.

Like the Vertical Insulated Bib Pants, the Kids’ Legend 2.0 Insulated Jacket combines style with functionality. Featuring advanced insulation technology, the Legend 2.0 jacket offers superior warmth without adding bulk, allowing kids to move freely during their winter escapades. Its durable construction ensures it can withstand the rigors of outdoor play, making it perfect for snowball fights, sledding, and more.

The jacket’s waterproof and windproof materials keep rain and snow at bay while allowing moisture to escape, ensuring kids stay dry and cozy even in wet conditions. Adjustable cuffs, a removable hood, and a drawstring hem provide a customizable fit to accommodate growth spurts.

With a range of stylish colors and designs, the Kids’ Legend 2.0 Insulated Jacket not only keeps youngsters warm but also helps them look good while braving the cold. Whether it’s a snowy day at the park or a family ski trip, this jacket is a reliable choice for winter adventures.

Additional features like reinforced knees and seat areas enhance durability, while the elastic gaiters with gripper bottoms keep snow and cold air out. The Helly Hansen Kids’ Vertical Insulated Bib Pants are not just a winter staple; they’re a piece of gear that allows young adventurers to embrace the joys of winter without compromising on comfort or safety.

The Case For Helly Hansen’s $1,000 One Piece Powder Suit https://unofficialnetworks.com/2023/02/15/best-one-piece-ski-suit/ Wed, 15 Feb 2023 15:20:35 +0000 https://unofficialnetw.wpengine.com/?p=15020725 Image By Josh Laskin When you think of one-piece ski suits, your mind probably flashes back to the ones your father wore in the early 90s or the ones you see around après ski parties. When you think of one-piece ski suits, your mind probably flashes back to the ones your father wore in the early 90s or the ones you see around après ski parties. But the functionality of a one-piece ski suit is unmatched in deep powder snow. I mean, you can literally roll around in powder like a child and stay completely warm and dry.

If you have never worn one, it’s hard to convey the feeling of zipping up a one-piece ski suit for the first time and heading out into blizzard conditions. You feel as though you have a suit of armor on that will protect you from the harshest wind and blowing snow. It’s a warm, safe feeling you can’t get from a traditional jacket and pants combo. So which is the best to buy?

Our choice is the Helly Hansen Ullr Chugach Infinity Powder Suit. You could call it the Brioni suits of ski wear. They’re that fly.

The Chugach Infinity is a kit for skiers who want to stay comfortable and protected while spending the entire day in cold and snowy environments. The suit is built to withstand the toughest conditions, with reinforced cuffs that resist wear and tear from ski edges and durable zippers that can stand up to the abuse of daily use.

The Chugach Infinity is packed with features that make it one of the most high-performance ski suits out there. First off, it’s made with a LIFA INFINITY PRO™fabric that’s fully waterproof and breathable, so you can stay dry and comfortable no matter what the weather throws at you. And with its insulated design, it will keep you warm on even the coldest days.

The key to LIFA INFINITY PRO™ lies in its construction. The fabric is made up of two layers of LIFA® fibers that are spun together to create a 3D, seamless knit. This construction creates air pockets that trap heat and provide insulation while also allowing moisture to escape, keeping you dry and comfortable during physical activity.

Additionally,  this ski suit has a built-in RECCO avalanche rescue system. This technology uses a reflector that bounces back signals from RECCO detectors used by ski patrols and rescue teams, making it easier for them to find you if you’re buried in an avalanche. It’s a small feature, but it could be a lifesaver in an emergency.

Not only is this ski suit high-performance, but it also looks great on the mountain. The design is sleek and stylish, with bold colors and contrasting accents that make it stand out from the crowd.

We also love its roomy pockets. The Helly Hansen Ullr Chugach Infinity Powder Suit has an ample amount of pockets that are well thought out and positioned correctly. Added to this is the Life Pocket+™pocket, which works to keep your phone close at hand and the phone’s battery alive longer, allowing you to stay connected in the outdoors.

There is no getting around the fact that it’s $1,000 USD, but compared to a top-end bib and jacket combo; it’s inline.

So there it is. And if you don’t want to take our word for it, just look to the people who might care more about outerwear than anyone else on the planet, the Norwegians. There is an old saying in Norway that is loosely translated as “there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.”  So you know they take their outer gear very seriously, and they love their Helly Hansen Chugach powder suits. I mean, the thing is ubiquitous among Norwegians, and for a good reason.

Helly Hansen is inviting all winter sports lovers to recognize their local ski patrol members for International Ski Patrol Day tomorrow, February 10th.

They are asking for all to post to their social channels using #skipatrolday to spread the positivity and thanks for the hardworking patrollers across the country.

Helly Hansen will also donate 5% of all online sales from February 10th-February 14th to various ski patrol organizations across the globe.

I’m all for recognizing ski patrollers for their hard-work, so posting about Helly’s International Ski Patrol Day was a no-brainer. We simply couldn’t have modern ski resorts without the blood, sweat, and tears of ski patrollers.

They put their lives on the line so that we can enjoy sliding on snow. The least we can do is recognize them for a day with a nice post on our social feeds.

You can learn more about International Ski Patrol Day here.

Trust. It is a vital component of any team. Without it, a team is reduced to a group of individuals working together as a means to an end. However, when there is trust, the team becomes whole. Each person participating knows their role. They play their part, knowing the other will do the same in order to achieve their ultimate goal. Trust equates to a more successful and, in many cases, safer environment. When people feel safe and believe in each other productivity grows. For woman, Ski Patroller Hannah Baybutt of Sun Valley, Idaho, the trust she places in her colleagues as well as the Helly Hansen gear she wears helps her maintain focus in even the toughest of times.

Defining What it Means to be Essential

On the mountain, the Ski Patrol defines what it means to be an essential worker. By removing obstacles, providing first emergency care to injured people, and responding to wreck scenes, they maintain and promote skier safety across varied terrain. Alone, a job like this can be quite daunting. Being a member of the ski patrol is demanding both physically and mentally. It is not meant to be a one-person job. Patrollers are never alone. They are very much a community that trusts each other with their lives.

Being a patroller is a job that Hannah Baybutt relishes greatly. Having joined the ski patrol at Sun Valley four years ago she is part of a team of experts that keep visitors safe. Baybutt and her co-patrollers trust in each other’s abilities in order to help each other maintain focus in the toughest of conditions. This is not without its challenges.

Combatting Challenges With the Help of Your Team

There is, of course, the obvious challenge of saving peoples’ lives, in what could amount to some harrowing conditions. “When arriving at a serious situation that could be life-changing for someone, there is a saying we have – you don’t rise to the occasion, you fall back on your training,” says Baybutt in a new short film produced by Helly Hansen. Having this kind of confidence in your ability takes time and training. No one, no matter what their endeavor, can do be successful without the necessary practice they need, done over a prolonged period of time.

Successful performance also requires the support of the people around you. Baybutt elaborates, “Existing in the ski patrol community is a role where it’s easy to have doubts about yourself. These people help push you to see the good within yourself.” Through countless scenarios in practice or in real life, Baybutt’s trust in herself and, more importantly, her team shows she belongs in the mountains and helps ensure others belong there too.

It is obvious that Hannah Baybutt’s team includes the other members of the Sun Valley Ski Patrol however, her trust extends beyond the human element. Equally as important to her job is the ski gear she wears on a daily basis. By protecting her from the elements, which at times can be quite harsh, Baybutt is able to perform under any condition. The gear she wears is none other than Helly Hansen.

Your Gear Plays an Important Role

Founded in Norway in 1877 and having survived the test of time, there is no doubt that Helly Hansen is trusted by industry professionals like Baybutt and her fellow ski patrollers. With over 200 ski resorts and close to 55,000 ski professionals currently using Helly Hansen, they have firmly cemented themself at the top of their class.

Over the course of their 140-year history, Helly Hansen is known for pushing the limits of outdoor gear technology. Products such as their technical mid-layers and base layers of the 1960s and 1970s, their Lifa Merino blend in the 1990s and the Elevation Jacket in 2016 were all considered groundbreaking for their time. Today, Helly Hansen continues to think outside the box and it shows in their newest innovation, the Lifa Infinity Pro.

Lifa Infinity Pro is the ultimate in sustainable waterproofing technology. Through advanced engineering, each piece is produced without the use of any external waterproofing chemical yet still delivers the waterproofing and breathability that Helly Hansen is known for. One such item that features the Lifa Infinity Pro technology is the Odin Infinity Insulated Jacket

Pushing the Limits With Helly Hansen’s Odin Infinity Jacket

The Odin Infinity Insulated Jacket was built with input from search-and-rescue professionals like Hannah Baybutt. Created without the use of DWR (durable water repellant) chemicals, it delivers an elite level of sustainability while maintaining the waterproofing, wind resistance and breathability that Helly Hansen is known for.

The exterior shell is rugged and durable and will last for years to come. The lightweight insulation keeps you warm without all the extra weight that can make some jackets bulky. On warmer days, you can even eliminate some of that heat with the underarm zipper and the two-way front zipper. The large stash pockets are backpack compatible and allow you to dump your skins, bars, beanie or whatever you need into them.

By including all of this and more, the Odin Infinity jacket is a verified member of your team. Just like other industry professionals who wear Helly Hansen gear, you too can trust that it will be there to protect you from the elements. This level of trust is a necessity for Ski Patrollers like Sun Valley’s Hannah Baybutt, and for you. Knowing that your team and your gear will deliver day in and day out is a welcome reprieve that ultimately allows you to do what you love to do most…ski and snowboard.

Helly Hansen Brevent Jacket

Size tested:  Large

Color tested:  Arctic blue

Where tested:  Squaw Valley CA,  Las Leñas ARG, Bariloche ARG

Days tested:  About 60 days

Tester:  Miles Clark.  Height = 6’1”, Weight = 170 lbs

Look how tough & sexy you can look in the Brevent

The bottom line to this review is that the Brevent is warm.  I’m an pathetic pansy when it comes to being cold and I don’t go out there without solid gear.  A thin insulating layer of primaloft makes this thing a true ski jacket.  I always wore the Brevent with just a light weight thermal top underneath and was snug.  On brutally cold days (highs of 16 F or colder) I’d wear a fleece vest underneath and be plenty toasty.

The key to any ski bum jacket is toughness of the outer fabric.  If the damn thing tears, it’s the beginning of the end.  The Brevent has a durable outer fabric that took some real hits this past season.  This jacket handled tree branches, jagged ski edges, and the occasional broken beer bottle without a penetrating tear.  I hate it when the shoulders wear out/tear up from carrying skis.  The Brevent’s outer fabric took the skis on the shoulders thrashing without a tear.

Waterproofness was never an issue.  Never got wet thru this jacket.  Fully tapped seams and 15,000mm waterproofness make that happen.

Full run down of all the features of the Brevent in a British accent.

My favorite feature of the Brevent is the flaring cuffs.  The cuffs on this jacket fare out to allow for easy glove insertion.  I like my gloves to go under the cuffs of my jacket and this jacket makes it quick and easy.  All jackets should have flaring cuffs, it’s a no brainer.

The style of the jacket is simple and smooth.  The black option is almost invisible and the arctic blue is provocative.  A size large jacket was somewhat baggy for me which fits in with today’s style and more importantly allows for free movement when performing violent spread-eagle crotch-grabs.

The season pass pocket on the left arm is a nice touch considering every ski resort is now attempting to fry your balls with RFID technology.

In the past, many non-endemic companies have sponsored ski films (think Jeep, Subaru) without actually having sponsored athletes in the films. This is somewhat understandable- non-endemic companies don’t necessarily make products that are essential to skiers doing their job. However, Helly Hansen this year set a new precedent, becoming the first endemic company to sponsor a major film, without supporting athletes in the film. This is pretty messed up: you’d expect a company outside the industry to ride on the coattails of a struggling industry, but a company that produces ski-specific outerwear? Come on!

You can make the argument that by paying MSP, the support trickles down to the athletes, but I don’t buy it. If MSP is like any other production company (besides Warren Miller), athletes are likely in a “pay your way” situation, in which athletes come up with the funding for the individual trips- money they get from sponsors (i.e. outerwear sponsors). By not supporting athletes AND the movie, they’re trying to reap the benefits of being associated with MSP’s brand, without actually fully supporting the product.

Helly Hansen use to be in the game fully- having a stacked team including Hugo Harrison, James Heim, etc. However, they cut virtually their entire team a couple of years ago and have shifted to a marketing strategy focused on professionals/uniforms (see above). That’s well and good, but it seems disingenuous to pretend to continue to support the other side of the industry. Those athletes work hard, and for an endemic company to just ride on the coattails of their hard work, and not fully step up to the plate in support, is contradictory to the soul of the ski industry.
