I typically don’t expect to see any sort of celebrity while out for a bike ride. POSSIBLY a local legend or one of those guys who sets all the Strava KOMs, but certainly nobody well known outside of the local sphere. These guys didn’t just see any celebrity. They didn’t spot some famous musician or well known actor. They saw, and had a rather polite chat with, their king.
King Charles seems like quite a nice man! The video features a shockingly normal conversation, where he’s much more concerned with the weather and the land that they’re on than anything else. He acts much more like a polite estate-owner than the KING OF THE UNITED KINGDOM.
“I’m not a big fan of the Royal family, in fact, I suppose I could be described as anti-establishment. That doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy meeting King Charles, and it doesn’t stop him from being a very nice man to talk to either.“
The fact that he’s just walking through the hills alone is crazy to me. Shouldn’t there be like boat loads of security around him? Can you imagine if the President of the United States just went for a casual walk on his own? Secret service would certainly have a meltdown.
The Balmoral Estate
None the less, he seems like quite a nice man. The Balmoral estate, where these mountain bikers met their king, is the Royal Family’s Scottish home. It was purchased by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in 1852.
It seems like an absolutely stunning plot of land. Much of the land is used for conservation, farming, and other things, so it doesn’t just sit empty and untouched when the royal family isn’t there. Check out the video below for more information on the location:
