The  mountain biker in question was riding the downhill trail near Bludenz when he decided to take a break in an open meadow. Police are saying that his red hot disc brakes ultimately caused a small portion of grass to go up in flames.

Although he attempted to stamp out the fire on his own, the mountain biker’s efforts were unsuccessful and the fire spread. Ultimately local fire crews from nearby Bludenz were called in to extinguish the blaze, which they accomplished before nightfall with the help of helicopters.
