During the 2025-26 season, Deer Valley Resort will open a major terrain expansion. Earlier this year, the Utah ski resort announced that they are partnering with the development happening right next to them, which has been referred to as Mayflower. This development will include a new base village. Recently, it was announced that a Grand Hyatt will be one of these hotels inside the village.
On November 9th, Hyatt Hotels announced that they will be opening a hotel in Deer Valley’s new base village. The 387-guestroom hotel will include 40 suites and 55 private residences. The amenities at the Grand Hyatt will include an outdoor event terrace, a heated year-round pool, a whirlpool hot tub, and a fitness center. For dining, they’ll have an après ski bar and grill, a restaurant/bar, and a coffee cafe.
Kimo Bertram, who is Hyatt’s vice president of development for the Americas, explained in the press release what this new hotel will bring to Utah:
“Strategically positioned to meet increasing demand in resort markets, Grand Hyatt Deer Valley is a testament to the deliberate expansion of Hyatt’s luxury brands in sought-after destinations. The Grand Hyatt brand celebrates the iconic in small details and magnificent moments for guests, World of Hyatt members and customers. Grand Hyatt Deer Valley will deliver on this brand promise by providing a luxurious retreat for group and leisure travelers alike after a day of exploration and taking advantage of all the resort has to offer.”
The hotel will also feature a large amount of conference center spaces. On the interior, they’ll have 38,900 square feet of event space, which will include a huge grand ballroom.
Gary Barnett, who’s the Founder & Chairman of Extell Development Company, which is building the new expansion, described what this hotel will bring to this new base village:
“Grand Hyatt Deer Valley has been years in the making and will be the cornerstone of our new village at Deer Valley Resort. We have meticulously designed a hotel offering luxurious finishes and best-in-class amenities to appeal to guests and their families seeking a stay in the mountains. In addition, Grand Hyatt Deer Valley will be one of the nation’s only conference facilities located in a beautiful and easily accessible ski destination—a combination that is nearly unheard of within the industry. Finally, in recognition of their service to our country, active and retired military members will receive certain benefits and amenities while staying at the hotel.”
They are expecting to open the hotel in late 2024, while the first phase of the terrain expansion is expected to open during the 2025-26 season.
