One of the pivotal buildings from Sugar Bowl’s storied history has been listed for sale. 950 Paint Brush Hill Court is known as one of the original Sugar Bowl chalet. According to Forbes, the property was built for Jerome Hill. Jerome was an Academy Award-winning director and artist. The chalet was designed by architect William Wurster, who eventually became the dean of UC Berkeleyโ€™s School of Architecture.

Jeff Brown of Tahoe Mountain Realty explained the appeal of this home to Forbes:

โ€œThe home is designed as large spaces for people to gather. The floor plan is not something that conforms to traditional metrics, when we describe X number of bedrooms, X number of bathrooms and square footage. This home was built with none of that in mind. It was built around a magnificent stone fireplace, with these vaulted timbered ceilings and this deck that just spans over the Yuba River with views of Mount Disney.โ€

The seven-bedroom, four-bathroom chalet features a hot tub, multiple living rooms, a large outdoor deck, and a stone fireplace. Due to there being no paved roads around the Village, there’s snowcat access to and from your door during the winter. There’s around-the-clock concierge service.

Aesthetically speaking, my only gripe with the place is that some things seem out of place. A good example of this is the bathrooms and the kitchen. The kitchen features a small table in the open space, and a bunch of old appliances. The bathrooms have tubs, but no showers. Hell, even one of the bedrooms randomly features a sink. Some would say that adds to the character of the place though.
