Italy’s new expansion on their “Super Green Pass” went into effect on January 10th, with the pass now applying to several ski resort settings. The Super Green Pass can only be received if an individual can provide proof of either vaccination or recovery from Covid-19 and differs from the basic Green Pass as a negative test does not suffice.

Previously, the Super Green Pass applied to several indoor spaces, including cinemas and theaters. Though the expansion doesn’t specifically target ski resorts, it now applies to ski lifts, restaurants and bars, hotels, public transportation, and many more locations common at a mountain.

Ski Center Latemar, which lies in the Trentino region, may be affected by a change in zone designation.

On top of the new pass restrictions, the country changed the zone indication for many ski heavy regions, including Aosta Valley and Piedmont, to yellow zones. This simply means that businesses can continue to operate, but require the Super Green Pass for most indoor locations.

The region of Trentino, according to some news sites, is at risk of being designated as orange zones, which would limit movement around the country, add a curfew, and close many indoor spaces. This, however, would likely have little effect on ski resorts.
