Lupe Hagearty has had a hill to climb to reach where he is today as a freestyle skier. At the age of five, his mom passed away. Throughout his childhood, his father struggled with addiction, leading him and his sister to barely get by. His only escape was when his extended family would take him skiing. Over the years, he filmed alongside Tanner Hall and Tom Wallisch and competed in the X Games Real Ski in 2021. Despite these successes, he still faces financial hurdles.
A new documentary from Pangea Creative will document his life story. Called Lupe, the film covers his skiing career, along with a Christmas trip back to Connecticut to confront the trauma from his past. The documentary will also discuss the challenges he now faces as a pro skier.
The film’s premiere will be at the High Five Festival in France and will be hosting a film tour across North America, which will include stops in West Hartford and Salt Lake City. It will be available to watch on the X Games YouTube page in mid-December. The trailer is down below.
