Nobody owns the mountains, nobody owns the snow. If you’re going to take your time preparing for a run, you shouldn’t expect everyone to stop and wait until you’re ready. It is pretty darn funny to watch ski legend Tanner Hall try to figure out what to do as a random skier cuts through one of his first major hits of the season, though.
Before you watch the video, let me be clear. I don’t think anyone is actually in the wrong through here, I think there was just a bit of confusion. So don’t get mad at Tanner Hall, and don’t get mad at the random skier. Everyone’s just trying to enjoy the outdoors.
Some of the comments in the video get into arguing about whether or not Hall had the right to tell this guy to stop, and whether or not the guy should have stopped. My guess, which goes along with what some of the comments said, is that Hall didn’t want this guy to either purposefully or accidentally hit the jump and/or landing that he just built. Once Hall realizes that the dude is just going to ski by, he lets him go without any further word.
Even cutting through the path that Hall made as a windup to the jump is a little questionable. Speed matters in these moments, and if the guy screwed up the path, he could have screwed up the jump. But all is well.
Anyways, here’s another clip from what appears to be the same day, or at least close to it. Definitely not the same moment, as Hall pulls off a triple in the instagram clip and only a double in the clip above. From quick observation, though, it does appear to be the same jump.
