Arapahoe Basin Ski Area (Colorado) is well on their way to replacing their original Lenawee Triple with a brand-spanking new detachable six pack from Leitner-Poma.
The new lift will dramatically improve A-Basin’s uphill capacity as reaching the summit from mid-mountain will be even faster.
A-Basin aims to have the new lift ready-to-go by this upcoming season. The ski area’s COO Al Henceroth shared an update on how things are going on his famous blog:
“The old Lenawee triple chairlift has been completely removed. There are a still a handful of components in the parking lot, but most of the gear has been shipped to Sunlight.
Leitner Poma is off to a good start with the new lift. The excavation is complete at the top terminal. The concrete for the footer has been poured and the rebar and concrete forms are in place. We expect the rest of the foundation to be poured early next week. Shortly following that pour, the forms will be stripped and the foundation will be back-filled.”
I can’t wait to get back to A Basin next season and ride the new Lenawee lift. I didn’t really mind the slow fixed-grip triple, but zooming up the mountain in a high speed six pack ain’t necessarily a bad thing, ya know?
