Arapahoe Basin is proud to announce that they are opening a brand new zone to the skiing public today. Ski patrol will dropped the rope on what is known as ‘The Beavers’ this morning and skiers and riders are busy lapping up the pow.
While there is still not enough snow to open the newly inbounds, Steep Gullies, A-Basin is spinning the local favorite chairlift, Pallavicini.
“The Beavers terrain and chairlift will open Monday mid-morning. We will start with Loafer. As the day progresses, we will likely get some of the Dog Woods open. Sometime later tomorrow you should see Davis (and maybe a few more gladed trails) get open.” – Al’s Blog

The expansion also includes the extreme terrain of The Steep Gullies (129 acres) for experts only. This terrain will open as soon as conditions permit. The Steep Gullies are some of the most advanced and challenging terrain in Colorado. The terrain is not lift served and all skiers using this terrain will be required to take a 20-30 minute hike back to the bottom of the Pallavicini Lift.“We’ve been fortunate to have received good snow in October and November. This past week’s storm of an additional 22 inches has given us the opportunity to put the finishing touches on the new terrain. The conditions are fantastic,” said Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin Chief Operating Officer. “We couldn’t be more excited to open this new, lift-served terrain to the public.”
